Do you have  a bike, or have access to capital bike share? If so, then you can bike the cherry blossoms. The NPS is offering free cherry blossom bike tours starting the weekend of March 24 through April 15. Every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, park rangers will be offering guided bike tours of the cherry trees. Each tour will be completely unique, “but all reveal the historical and cultural significance of the trees. ” Riders are only required to provide their own bike, helmet and water.

The National Park Service predicts that the cherry blossoms will be at their peak bloom from March 20-23. Head down to the tidal basin to enjoy the beautiful blossoms. Enjoy a walk along the water, and end at the Jefferson

Fun fact: If you walk around to the Jefferson, and line yourself up to the White House, you can get a clear view across the mall  to the White House, thanks to Eleanor Roosevelt who made sure that her husband could get a clear line of sight to the a memorial to his favorite president, Jefferson, from the balcony of the White House. Fittingly, FDR’s own memorial is next to Jefferson’s along the tidal basin.
