THIS WEEKEND: Come to the 12th annual Library of Congress two-day National Book Festival on the National Mall. President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are honorary chairs for the event. The festival is free and open to the public.
Last year’s Festival was a resounding success and drew more than 200,000 attendees to the National Mall. This annual free event continues to feature authors/poets and to celebrate the joy of lifetime reading.
As always, the Festival will feature award-winning authors, poets and illustrators in several pavilions dedicated to various literature categories. Festival-goers can meet and hear firsthand from their favorite authors, get books signed, have photos taken with mascots and storybook characters and participate in a variety of learning activities.
Jewel, R.L. Stine, Lois Lowry, and David Stein are just a f ew of the exciting authors who will be on hand for book signings.
Be sure to Subscribe to the Library of Congress e-mail or RSS feeds, or follow them on Twitter at @LibraryCongress to check the schedule for the list of authors and their appearance times so you don’t miss your favorites. The Science Fiction, Fantasy & Graphic Novels and Special Presentations pavilions will be available Sunday only.
