Our friends at Virginia Tourism have compiled a list of 13 (okay, you’re lucky if you dine there) restaurants where you’re likely to have a great experience. Thanks, author Patricia Keppel, for evaluating the dozens of notable restaurants in Virginia and coming up with this list.
Gadsby’s Tavern is pictured here. Circa 1785, the tavern, and 1792, the City Hotel are named after John Gadsby, who operated them from 1796 to 1808. Historical figures who have dined and stayed at the tavern are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and the Marquis de Lafayette. Image courtesy Virginia Tourism Corporation
