A graduate of West Virginia University, Dale Leatherman grew up in eastern West Virginia, 60-90 minutes from downtown DC. A past president of the Society of American Travel Writers, Dale has spent many years exploring the world and writing about adventure travel, golf travel and equestrian sports. She recently moved back to a bedroom community of DC near Shepherdstown, WV, where it’s easy to hop on a train for the short ride to the city. After years of budget-conscious travel, Dale is attuned to saving money. She feels that the Washington, D.C., area is one of the best places in the world to enjoy outstanding museums, parks and cultural activities on a budget, and she’s eager to share her discoveries with locals and visitors through DC On the Cheap.
