Puerto Rican restaurant La Famosa is hosting one more pop-up before its restaurant opening later this summer. This last pop-up from Joancarlo Parkhurst will be at Cotton & Reed’s new sidewalk patio.
La Famosa will eventually be in the Navy Yard area, but Cotton & Reed’s Union Market location will serve as the venue for the pop-up for now. La Famosa’s menu stems from Puerto Rico’s chinchorros, which are small kiosks, restaurants or bars that serve local food.
Beginning Saturday August 1st for dinner, La Famosa will be cooking authentic Puerto Rican food like: Bolitas de Queso, or fried cheese balls with guava sauce, assorted pastelillos (fried turnovers/the Puerto Rican version of empanadas) and beef picadillos. Prices for food items range from $6-$10.
La Famosa will be mixing up a refreshing cocktail called the “Guava Smash,” made with rum, fresh guava, mint-infused simple syrup and fresh mint leaves with a hint of allspice.
Walk-up seating is available, but reservations are recommended. Guests can make a reservation through Cotton & Reed’s website here.
