Unfortunately, the World Series champs won’t be able to celebrate with us the usual way, but there are plenty of ways to get excited about Thursday’s game vs. the Yankees (it’s at 7 p.m. in case you’re wondering!).
First of all, Dr. Anthony Fauci will be throwing out the first pitch. He’s a Nats mega-fan, so it should be fun to watch.
Watch the game from home while biting into a big, juicy steak sandwich from Medium Rare (Bethesda and Arlington). The secret-sauced steak sandwich (say that five times fast!) is one you can typically find only at Nationals Park. You can pick up the sandwich, get it delivered or dine-in socially distanced.
If you’d rather feel closer to your favorite team (since games will be fan-less this season), Bluejacket has a plan ready—make your food and drink orders online then enjoy on their patio as they stream the game.
Finally, escape the heat with Ice Cream Jubilee’s Block Party Package. The ice cream shop near Nats Park wants your neighborhood “Team Captain” to grab a minimum of eight pints for the game. Each Baseball Block Party Package gets eight Nats hat ice cream bowls and spoons for free with their order. The one you send for the ice cream gets a free face mask with an ice cream mask and a $10 gift card for being captain. Orders are available until Sunday July 26th. Flavors available include banana bourbon caramel, cookies and cookie dough, fresh minty chip, blueberry pie and more. The ice cream package costs $64 and serves 10-14.
If you still are yearning to watch the game live, it’s worth trying to get to Top of the Yard Rooftop Bar, the Hampton Inn & Suites Washington DC-Navy Yard. The bar and lounge is open daily from April through October and is the only rooftop bar in the Ballpark District. Happy hour starts at 5 p.m. with ballpark-like food and drinks. Double check for availability and social distancing requirements here.
Go Nats!
